3D paintings with epoxy resin: how to create volume and shine
A 3D effect in a decorative painting does not necessarily mean a carving or a separate relief. In epoxy-coated works, the sense of depth comes from the clear layer of resin, the hand decoration and the way the surface reacts to light. That is why the same picture can look calm in soft daylight and much more expressive in side light.
What begins a three-dimensional decorative picture
The base must be hard and even. The CrystalPrintArt uses 8mm MDF. A special print is applied to the base, after which the composition is supplemented by hand: rock crystal, crystals, glitter, gold and silver crumbs. The final layer of epoxy resin forms a smooth glossy surface and enhances the depth of color.
What exactly does epoxy resin change?
The transparent coating makes dark shades visually richer, and light elements more contrasting. It also creates reflections that change depending on the viewing angle. This is an important difference from an ordinary flat print: the texture and decorative particles begin to work together with the light in the room.
Why is the decor applied selectively?
If crystals fill the entire surface, the subject will lose readability. Therefore, it is more logical to use hand-made decor as an accent: on ornaments, rays, clothes, background or individual details. Faces, gestures and main symbols should remain the visual focus.
How lighting affects the result
The most natural epoxy surface looks in diffused daylight or side light. Strong frontal lighting can create a glare and partially hide the subject. Therefore, before the final installation, you should attach the work to the wall and look at it in the morning, afternoon and evening.
How to distinguish the 3D effect from other techniques
Epoxy coating on MDF is not a wood carving, a pictorial relief or a canonical icon. This is a modern decorative way of designing an image. An accurate description of the materials is important for both the buyer and SEO: it helps to find exactly the type of product that a person expects to receive.
What to check before buying
- exact dimensions and orientation of the picture;
- base material and thickness;
- real photos at an angle, not just a frontal shot;
- wall mounting method;
- presence or type of frame;
- production period and delivery conditions.
For works CrystalPrintArt, the estimated production time is about 4 weeks. Delivery is carried out by Nova Poshta in Ukraine and abroad, and its cost depends on the size of the job.
FAQ
Is such a picture a real relief?
Not in the classical sense. Visual volume is created by a transparent layer of resin and handmade decorative elements on a rigid base.
Can it be hung opposite the window?
It is possible, but the glossy surface can give a strong glare. It is better to check the angle of the light before installation.
How to care for the surface?
For regular care, a soft dry microfiber without abrasives and aggressive household chemicals is sufficient.
